Leonardo Hotels takes people to 2024’s top travel destinations

Berlin, 12 June 2024. Anyone planning a trip tends to be spoilt for choice. There are so many countries, cities and regions to discover. The travel guide publisher Lonely Planet, which is marking its 50th anniversary by recommending the 50 top travel destinations for 2024 in five different categories, is a good source of ideas. Leonardo Hotels offer attractive and comfortable options at many of these top locations and can also offer plenty of advice to travellers.

Sustainability and sun worship in Spain
The authors at Lonely Planet highlight several aspects which mark out Spain as a top destination. In the “Sustainability” category, the country is praised for countless initiatives aimed at supporting environmentally friendly travel. Holidaymakers seeking a sun-drenched experience can choose between 17 Leonardo Hotels. The rooftop pool at the NYX Hotel Madrid by Leonardo Hotels, for example, is an inviting place to unwind and to see and be seen. It also provides a good opportunity to get to know the locals, who like to cool off here on hot days whilst enjoying views out over the roofs of the city. The hotel group’s presence is not, however, merely confined to metropolises such as Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao. It also offers perfect accommodation for a relaxing beach holiday in the resorts of the Costa del Sol, Mallorca and Ibiza.

Culture, creativity and culinary delights – the Basque Country

Lonely Planet’s second tip for visitors to Spain is the Basque Country, a region which the guide’s authors consider to be an absolutely top recommendation. The Basque Country consists of a swathe of land on the country’s northern coast which is characterised by the Atlantic Ocean and high mountains. The area’s nature is, however, not the only thing which sets it apart. Basque cuisine is amongst the best anywhere in Europe. Colourful fiestas also bear witness to a culture which is rich in tradition. Bilbao is the largest city in the Basque Country, and the NYX Hotel Bilbao is just as smart and cool. This makes it the ideal starting point to explore the creativity of the city and its surrounding area. A cocktail in the stylish Clash Restaurant or a visit to the bar are both good ways to relax. A high level of comfort can also be enjoyed in one of the hotel’s trendy rooms. The most important sights, including the iconic Guggenheim Museum, are located within the immediate vicinity. The hotel’s team are well known for being lovers of the city and are happy to reveal their own favourite spots to guests.

Affordable, hip and pulsating – Poland
Closer to hand than Spain, Poland also comes highly recommended with regard to value for money in particular. Lonely Planet’s enthusiastic assessment points out that Poland is an affordable destination which still offers outstanding travel experiences. Leonardo operates four hotels in the pulsating capital city of Warsaw and in Kraków, where the Old Town is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Leonardo Boutique Krakow Old Town is situated at the very heart of this picturesque quarter between the Main Square, the Wawel Royal Castle and the lively district of Kazimierz, formerly home to the city’s Jewish community. The Boutique Hotel boasts a romantic inner courtyard, a cosy bar and its own restaurant and is a perfect base for those wishing to explore.

The NYX Hotel Warsaw at the very centre of the Polish capital represents a fabulous contrast. The hotel is located on Varso Square, where one of Europe’s highest buildings can also be found. Neo-modern architecture, elegant design and works by renowned street artists all come together to create a sense of pure lifestyle. The hotel’s own Clash Restaurant and a roof terrace providing breathtaking panoramas of the urban skyline are both perfect venues for a sundowner.

Guests at the elegant Leonardo Royal Warsaw are also able to take in spectacular views of the city centre. The hotel’s recently renovated rooms occupy the upper storeys of one of Warsaw’s tallest skyscrapers. Numerous restaurants and bars are available on the doorstep. Guests can also dine in great style at the hotel itself before relaxing for the rest of the evening. An à la carte restaurant serves up exquisite menus every day, and the modern lobby bar is open until late in the evening. Here too, the views of the city are stupendous.

Paris – always a good idea
Paris is one of the Lonely Planet recommendations in the category of “City trips” this year.   Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has had a presence in France since the end of 2023. The Leonardo Boutique Paris Opéra is a former “Hôtel Particulier” which exudes all the charm of a 19th century city palace. It is located in the centre of Paris in the popular 9th arrondissement, where broad and magnificent boulevards are the chief feature. Cultural enthusiasts, shopping fans and night owls are all well catered for.
